Midland GXT1000
These radios are a great entrance radio. The range is limited when in the field to under a mile contrary to what the manufacturer's specs say. They are simple to use and come with rechargeable batteries and charging dock. The charging dock also comes with a car adapter for on the go charging. The headsets that come with the radios are cheap but they work. Both the radio and the headsets are not the most durable and should not be worn where impact will occur. For the money spent for each set of radios, the price is worth it if you are playing CQB or just c communicate with your squad and communication to command isnt necessary. The best part about these radios is the amount of different channels and privacy codes you get so you never have to worry about someone picking up on your channel, and the whisper/vibrate mode. The vibrate mode mutes all sound coming from the radio so no beeps or "calls" can be heard and whisper mode enhances your voice so you can speak more quietly and the radio will pick up your voice still.
A set can be picked up on Amazon.com for about $60 and comes ready to go out of the box.
Pros:
Price, charging dock, car adapter, headsets
Cons:
range, durability
Overall:A final score of 6/10 was given due to the non-durable nature and the short range. Though great for entrance level, beyond that, they are almost useless.
