VFC SR15E3 Combat Master
The VFC "Combat Master" is a very high end rifle from a high end company. When you pick up and hold the rifle the first thing you will feel is the quality that was put into their rifle and how solid it feels while shouldering. It is full CNC aluminum so it is still as strong as an all metal rifle but has the weight of a hybrid. The only pieces that are plastic on the entire gun are the butt stock and the pistol grip. VFC uses a proprietary design to bring their rifles to a 1:1 scale with the real steel counterpart so the pistol grip is actual slimmer than standard m4 grips. In the box is the rifle, a VFC hi-cap mag, vertical fore grip, instruction manual, un-jamming rod, a black metal flash hider to replace the factory orange and an extra spring to change your performance. AirsoftGI.com claims that this rifle fires at 400+ FPS and around 22 RPS with an 11.1 lipo battery on .20g bbs. After first firing it the numbers were drastically different. With an 11.1 lipo and .20 King Arms bbs, this rifle fired at 362 FPS and 16 RPS. The extra spring included was actually a stiffer spring but not to the point that it would give you 400 FPS but around 380 FPS. As all VFC rifles do, the "Combat Master" came with a 6.04 TBB and the VFC high speed/torque motor and "auto-shimming" gears. The battery is housed inside the stock and since VFC recommends an 11.1 lipo, a stick type buffer tube lipo is the best choice. This gun also comes from the factory with 6 QD sling mounting points and is mostly ambidextrous. The selector switch and mag release are both ambidextrous but the functional bolt catch is not. To adjust eth hopup you simple pull the charging handle and adjust the hopup. The mock bolt will lock back until you it the bolt release slamming it forward with a crisp real steel sound. Using a Version 2 gearbox, this rifle is easily upgraded for internal parts. The hopup, as with all VFC rifles, is hard to replace. The factory plastic unit isn’t bad it just could be better and more easily adjusted if it were changed to a metal unit. This rifle is not for beginners and the price shows that at $465.00 not including a battery or charger.
Pros:
material, weight, reliability
Cons:
price, performance not as advertised
Overall:
Even though this rifle is advertised as a 400+ FPS and 22 RPS but doesn’t actually shoot that out of the box, it is ok, the reliability and the awe factory when other players see it make up for it. And to get that RPS a simple motor swap to an Echo1 high speed motor with the 11.1 lipo puts you there exactly. 8/10

Ares M4 CQB
Ares manufactures this gun for Umarex. Umarex assembles the gun using polymer upper and lower receivers and their custom motor. Ares also makes the full metal gearbox and all of the metal parts that go into this rifle. The V2 gearbox from Ares comes with pre upgraded internals to be able to handle a lot of torque and speed. The only piece you have to watch out for is the piston. This gearbox comes with a quick change spring system allowing the user to change their spring without having to take apart the gearbox unlike most others. Though it says quick change you still have to field strip your rifle to the gain access to the back of the gearbox and the quick change door. The trigger included with this gun is also an upgrade from your basic trigger. It is a sealed one piece electronic snap switch which helps keep grease and dirt out, allowing the contacts to engage cleaner and with fewer arcs. This helps the contacts last longer and gives the gun a more reliable trigger response. The weight of this gun is perfect for running around in CQB or Field. The polymer upper and lower cut down the weight while the RIS, outer barrel, and front sight are all metal to give it a more solid feel. There is a D-Ring at the base of the RIS that limits the placement of top optics but there is still plenty of room. The rear sight is adjustable for wind age and elevation and is completely removable to replace with optics or other iron sights. Unlike some other rifles, there is no wobble on any of the parts on this gun. The stock is the only problem that this rifle has as the tabs for the battery cover are somewhat brittle and can break easily. Out of the box the accuracy and effective range of this gun is great at 150 ft with no upgrades. Included in the box with this rifle are two hi-cap mags, a stubby fore grip, 8.4 1100 Mah nun chuck style batter, wall charger and un-jamming rod. As with all basic wall chargers do no use it as it will destroy your battery. Also the 1100 Mah battery does not last a long time so a spare or an upgrade is highly suggested. You can find this rifle at your local store for about $180.00 and online for around $200.00.

CyberGun Colt M4 CQB
The Colt M4 CQB is a great first rifle. Out of the box it has a great heavy weight feel to it. It comes with a full metal upper and lower receiver, metal RIS system and crane stock. The Front rail system is held in by the delta ring for forward battery storage while at the same time you have the option of the crane stock for battery storage as well. The rear sight is attached to the rail and can be removed if desired. It is fully adjustable for wind age and elevation. The front sight is a standard M4 triangle sight. The rifle comes from the factory with great FPS, ROF and accuracy. The FPS for this rifle out of the box is about 387 with .20g and has an ROF of around 13. The accuracy of this rifle is fairly decent for a factory gun. At about 125 ft. a standard chest sized target can be hit 10/10 times with groupings of about 3-4 in. The only problem with this rifle is that for a smaller person it would be very heavy and hard to keep shouldered for any long period of time. The battery that comes with it is an 8.4v battery so the ROF can only go up upon replacement. This also causes there to be a slow trigger response. This rifle falls in at a price of $220.
Pros:
Perfect CQB FPS, Full rail system, multiple sling mounts
Cons:
Heavy, slow trigger response, Delta ring is not 100% solid
Overall:
As a first rifle this is very decent and very nice. I would rate this M4 an 8/10.

Echo1 Troy
The Echo1 Troy comes in three varieties, MRF- S, C and X. The S is the shortest of the three with a 4” RIS system, the C uses a 7” RIS and the X a 10” RIS. They all use a polymer body to help reduce the weight but they are not like the standard polymer bodies that wobble and bend. The bodies are solid and if you still dont like the idea of a polymer body, you can get an upgraded metal body for the. The RIS is full metal as is the buffer tube. The gun comes with full trademarks and Troy flip up battle sights. The performance out of the box on this gun is great. FPS is just at the 350 mark with .35 and the ROF is around 18-19. Accuracy and range are great even in the S version. With a price tag of under $200 this is a great buy for any airsofter, beginner or veteran. The only downside to these guns is mag compatibility. So far, ONLY MAG brand magazines fit and feed. Beta Project, Green Label and PTS PMags wont feed or lock in the magwell.
Pros:
Price, FPS/ROF/RANGE/ACCURACY, metal rail, 3 variations
Cons:
Mag compatibility
Overall:
Due to its lightweight body and great performance, the problem of mag compatibility is not that big of an issue. This gun earned an 8/10.

ICS Colt M4 Carbine
The ICS Colt M4 Carbine is full trademarked and full metal construction. The rifle comes as a 1:1 weight and size as its real steel counterpart. The carry handle is mad o metal as well and is removable. The carry handle houses the factory rear sight that is adjustable for windage an elevation and the handle also has the mounting spots for a carry hand rail to mount an aftermarket optic. The butt stock, handguard and pistol grip are made from a polymer that is also identical to the real steel. The butt stock is 6-position adjustable and comes compete with a built in rear sling mount. Th batter is housed in the handguard and is easily removed via the delta ring. The handguard can be swapped out to fit a variety of other handguards including an RIS system. The front sight is adjustable for elevation only and it made from metal as well. The charging handle is fictional but the bolt catch/release is not. The factory 6.04 inner barrel extends out to the end of the outer barrel. ICS uses a slit gearbox design where the disassembly is just like the real steel as well. Remove the rear pin and crack the upper receiver forward. This will give you access to the upper and lower halves of the gearbox The upper is removable and is done by just sliding it out. this allows for a quick change to go from CQB to Field FPS easily. The out of the box FPS on .25g bbs is around 315 and the rof is around 17 rps. The performance of this gun is amazing and the accuracy is unbelievable A great buy for any airsofter whether you are just starting or you have been playing for years. The starting price of this gun is $230.00 and which is right in line for a perfectly priced gun.
